Describe where light is needed, who uses the space and when. Ask for a lighting plan appropriate to that use, rather than choosing a product from a headline power figure alone.
02. Check the available sunlight
Record panel position, shading and seasonal conditions. Solar energy production can be affected by clouds, dust and obstructions. Ask how the proposed configuration accounts for your site.
03. Specify the operating schedule
State the required hours and whether dimming or sensing is acceptable. Ask which operating mode, battery state and charging conditions were used for any stated runtime.
04. Request a complete specification
Request separate values for light output, luminaire power and solar panel power. Ask for battery chemistry, voltage and capacity, installation instructions and model-specific supporting documents. Compare products only when test conditions are clear.
05. Think about the surroundings
Discuss light direction, glare and neighbouring spaces. Outdoor lighting should meet its intended purpose while taking the surrounding nighttime environment into account.
06. Agree on the procurement details
